The Post In Which I Say "My Boys Are Growing Up Too Fast"!

There are many times in our fast paced day that I realize how quickly the changes are happening in my house. Specifically, how my boys are getting older. But there are moments when I just can't help but get misty eyed.

I have been the person who writes on Valentine's cards since Ethan was 3. Ethan was not interested in writing anything other than his name. Until this year. With the upcoming parties and excitment that goes into celebrating the day of love, both boys wanted to get their cards addressed early.

Enter the boys hurrying to finish their homework, then running into the dining room with their boxes of Star Wars Valentine's (bought by none other but Granny!), and sorting through to find out which friend gets which. Two fine tipped Sharpies, and we were ready to rock.

I was just going to have them write their names, but they completed both parts by themselves. While I was there to remind the boys to "not forget the From" part and to "write slowly and carefully", that was the extent of my Valentine expertise.

Which lead me to the misty eyed part. Evan only has 3 more months of Pre-K left. This is the last preschool Valentine party for our house. We have been at that school for the last 5 years! While I am looking forward to having that tuition money left burning a hole in our checking account each month, I am not sure I am ready to say goodbye to Evan's little-ness. I know what happens next....and it's a stinky big boy.

Sigh.

Tonight when I put them to bed, I squeezed them extra tight at bedtime and added one extra kiss. I will be missing this age soon enough, so I will treasure what I can when I can.

Here are some picture of the boys working so hard.

Conversations That Happen At My House

I love the things that my boys say. I wish there was a camera to record the conversations so that I have proof these phrases are uttered by the boys.
Here are just a few since Monday, but there are many.

The other day, the boys were out in the front yard playing while Brennen and I were making supper. That was eventful in itself because Brennen was making pancakes. All I had to do was cook the bacon. Anyway, Evan runs into the house and says, "Ethan kicked the soccerball and it hit Mini Joe on the head!!!"

When discussing what Ethan should be when he grows up, I told my mother he should be a book author or a movie writer. He has this imagination that is unbelievable. It would be neat to see what he could come up with. This is what he says after I said that, "or I could be an underwear model."

Today, I was telling Ethan it would be a good idea to get his homework done early so he could play without being interrupted. He asked Evan if he wanted to participate in writing spelling words too. Evan says, "Yes. Because I am good at everything."  (Yes, Evan is that kid that LOVES to do homework. Anyones homework. I was that kind of child, also. Heck, I do Ethan's homework with him now.)

They constantly keep me laughing.

And because the grandparents are expecting them....PICTURES!

Long time, no post!

Remember when I said I was going to continue this because I wanted to stick with something. Yeah, well, sorry....
I am pretty much done with the series on how to take photos. The next few posts talks about equipment that I want, but costs more than a gray card. So....

The series also continues through Photoshop. And that takes time that I don't currently have. What am I doing right now? Oh, I am so glad you asked! I am currently sewing pillowcases and fleece hats for Project 16 and for Conkerr Cancer. I felt a pull on my heart and also wanted to dust of the ol' sewing machine my wonderful in-laws gave me for Christmas a few years back.

By the way, I have Phipps' ingenuity and I didn't even know it! I fixed something, not with the famous Phipps monkey knot, but with packing tape. But here's the good news:  the tape is clear so you can't really tell. Whew!

I am also getting the opportunity to make things that have pink and purple in them *gasp*! I am kind of fulfilling a dream.

PS....Grandparents...I love your grandchildren, but they are currently in a non listening/arguing stretch. I know, shocking! My children always listen and never argue. Ever.

Oh, pictures with my fancy shmancy camera? Uh, yeah. I will absolutely get on that tomorrow. After I get home from doing PTA stuff at school. And finish up my sewing projects. And feed the hog. And wash the car. So, expect them...oh, I don't know....a week from Thursday, :)

You can always leave a comment if you want.
